Once upon a time, in a quiet valley surrounded by rolling hills, there stood a small town where nothing much seemed to change. In the mornings, the town awoke slowly, as though stretching from a long and pleasant sleep. The bakery on the corner released the warm scent of bread, drifting lazily through open windows, while the faint ring of a bicycle bell signaled the arrival of the postman. It was a place where life moved at a comfortable pace, unhurried yet full of quiet activity. People knew each other here—not in passing, but deeply, as though every name was tied to a memory. Mrs. Calloway, who kept the flower shop, could recall the first bouquet she sold to nearly every couple in town. Mr. Harland, the watchmaker, still wore the magnifying lens over one eye even when he wasn’t working, so accustomed was he to its presence.
